Pilot evaluation

Independent External Evaluation

As part of the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM) network, academics at Sheffield Hallam University were commissioned to conduct an independent evaluation of the Oxford University Hospital Foundation Trust SEM pilot.

This was important to help understand whether the approach taken in Oxford was feasible and acceptable, and identify key recommendations to help other Hospitals, with ambitions of becoming an Active Hospital, learn from the Pilot project.

The NCSEM were not responsible for the implementation or delivery of the SEM pilot. The evaluation aimed to explore the acceptability and feasibility of the SEM pilot and followed a mixed methods approach. Data was collected from patients and healthcare professionals using surveys, face-to-face and telephone interviews and audits between June 2018 and March 2019.
